Josh Jacobs Faces Felony Charge After Wisconsin Domestic Incident

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested and booked into Brown County Jail on five domestic abuse-related charges following an investigation by the Hobart-Lawrence, Wisconsin, police department, authorities said. One of the five charges – strangulation and suffocation – is a felony under Wisconsin law, with the remaining four classified as misdemeanors. Police said they were first dispatched to a disturbance complaint at 8:37 a.m. on Saturday, several days before the arrest was made.

Attorneys David Z. Chesnoff and Clarence Duchac, representing Jacobs, issued a statement in which the player vehemently denied the allegations, describing the matter as being in early stages of investigation with material evidence not yet made public. They called for fairness and restraint while the judicial process proceeds. The NFL said through a spokesman that it was aware of the matter and had been in contact with the club. The Packers confirmed awareness of the situation and declined further comment, citing the ongoing legal proceedings.

Jacobs, 28, has been a central figure in Green Bay’s offense since signing with the club ahead of the 2024 season, rushing for 1,329 yards and a career-high 15 rushing touchdowns in his first year with the team while earning his third Pro Bowl selection. His 2022 season with the Las Vegas Raiders, during which he led the NFL with 1,653 rushing yards and earned first-team All-Pro honors, established him among the league’s top running backs. The Raiders selected him in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of the University of Alabama.

Neither the NFL nor the Packers indicated what, if any, disciplinary steps might follow. Police said they had no further statement on the arrest or the broader investigation.
