Hall of Fame receiver Terrell Owens accuses longtime manager of ‘stealing’ from him: ‘Liar and a thief’

Terrell Owens Alleges Financial Theft by Longtime Manager

Terrell Owens has accused his former manager Heather Mesalam of stealing money from him after more than fifteen years of handling his business affairs. The former NFL receiver shared an email and text exchange on social media that he said showed unauthorized withdrawals, including a line for fifteen hundred dollars listed under her name without his prior approval. Owens stated he discovered the issue on October 3 and ended the professional relationship immediately.

Owens described the situation as a breach of trust in managing his finances and referenced earlier disputes involving former agents and a financial advisor linked to substantial investment losses for several players. He noted that such matters often remain private until athletes choose to speak out and connected the experience to broader pressures faced by former players.

Owens earned nearly eighty million dollars during his career through contracts and endorsements. He said public discussion of the matter was necessary for his own clarity and to address patterns that can affect athletes after retirement.

The receiver confirmed that Mesalam no longer works for him in any role. He indicated the issue is being addressed through appropriate channels and asked supporters not to be concerned about his current situation.
